With friendly places to stay, eat and play, Lough Derg is the kind of place where the whole family can truly relax, reconnect and have a proper good time.

Aqua Parks

A bounce and a splash in Lough Derg could be the highlight of the kids’ entire trip. A guaranteed energy burner, Lough Derg Aqua Splash & West Lake Aqua Park allow the kids to run, slide, bounce and splash around these massive inflatable parks. The whole family can take on the challenge of conquering the obstacles or just muck about getting wet; either way, it’s a huge amount of fun.

Mountshannon Maze

Wander through Mountshannon Maze, the most unusual mix of wood, stone and foliage which tells the story of Irish spirituality over the course of 9,000 years. And if that’s not challenging enough, add on some extra activity at the nearby playpark and exercise area.

Fairy Trails

Fairy Trails

There are lots of magical little fairy trails hidden in the forests and woods of Lough Derg so if you are looking for a bit of magic with the family and friends, there are some great options.

Visit the quiet little woodland at Birdhill which houses fairy doors amongst the trees and places to picnic in the beautiful rose garden. This is right beside the autism friendly playground and has a little nook for those who need a little bit of quiet time. The beautiful hamlet of Garrykennedy has lots of wooded trails that hug the shoreline and provide the perfect backdrop for leisurely looped nature walks and tiny little fairy houses. Explore the paths and trails around the ancient woodland at Castlelough or trek the trails at 12 O’Clock Hills and keep your eyes peeled for the real thing!
