Terryglass is a picturesque village located on the northern shores of Lough Derg. It is well served with two local pubs, both of which serve delicious local produce.
Down at the harbour, located a short walk from the village you will find BBQ & Picnic facilities, a playground, slipway, toilets and showers. This is a popular spot for cruisers during the summer months and the slipway allows visitors and locals to enter easily enter Lough Derg with canoes, kayaks, boats etc.
Accommodation ranges from B&B to self catering cottages in and around the village. Traditional Irish Music sessions are held regularly in the local pubs as well as other live music acts.If you haven’t yet been to Terryglass on the eastern shores of Lough Derg, you are missing out on one of Ireland’s true gems.
The pretty village has a long and distinguished history with a monastery being founded there by St. Columba in 549 A.D. The famous Book of Leinster was produced at the Monastery and can now be seen in Trinity College Dublin.
The village has a strong reputation for food and the two award winning bar and restaurants located here — Paddy’s Bar and The Derg Inn — that are well known throughout Ireland for their high standards and friendly atmosphere.
