The quaint, picture-perfect village of Puckane makes a great base for discovering Lough Derg. Just a ten-minute drive from Nenagh and close to both Dromineer and Garrykennedy too, there’s plenty to see and do within a short distance.
Along the main street, you’ll find a number of traditional thatched cottages. The cottages are beautifully maintained and one in particular, Peg’s Cottage, has been at the heart of the village for over 300 years. Nearby, a more recent addition of traditional-style thatched cottages are available for rent and very popular with visitors to the lake.
Puckane is just 2km from the shores of Lough Derg and the unspoilt surroundings are perfect for long walks, bike rides and horse riding. In fact, it’s so easy to switch into holiday mode here, you’ll be thankful the Tipp colours of blue and gold are painted on the school and water pump to help remind you where you are!
