Birdhill is a former winner and consistently highly rated contestant in the Tidy Towns Awards, this beautiful village oozes with pride and character. The adjective that springs to mind is classy, resident’s gardens are always pruned and preened to perfection.

The area is home to the Matt The Threshers Bar and Restaurant in the centre of the village which opened in 1984. Matt The Threshers is a highly renowned gastropub that seems to be constantly upgrading and flourishing.

Adjacent to the restaurant is the Old Barracks Coffee Roastery which opened in 2018. This relatively new establishment has a hip and modern millennial feel on the interior while its exterior retains the sophistication of the Old Barracks. The cafe bar does Roastery tours, Irish coffee demos, Irish coffee-making classes and Baileys lattes. The owners import directly from specialty coffee-grade farms and roast in Birdhill.

Across the road is the Coopers Bar, a perfect place to relax and unwind after a hard days work or to go for a special meal. The bar is often recommended on accounts of its delicious food and kind and courteous staff.
