Terryglass to Kilgarvan

8.7 km one way – 3 hour one way

Suitable for intermediate participants with a guide.

Head left (west) from Terryglass and look out for Old Court Castle and a hidden harbour as you paddle towards Gortmore Harbour (1.6 km), just before the headland. Be mindful of wind conditions beyond the headland and adjust your plans if needed.

After rounding the headland, cross a large bay with a protruding strip of land, followed by a smaller bay where you’ll spot the remains of Drominagh Castle and the mouth of the Ballyfinboy River, which may be navigable.

Continue across the next bay to find an unmarked reed channel near the shore, followed by a private reed channel marked by a blue buoy. Exit at Kilgarvan Quay via the slipway. A scenic route full of history and adventure!
