Killaloe Loop

2.5km round trip – 50 minute round trip

Suitable for a guided group of beginners and self-led intermediate paddlers in low river flow levels

Start at the car park near the bridge in Killaloe and paddle upstream (north) through the canal, passing under the pedestrian and road bridges. Portage around the small water barrier using the slip, then exit the canal onto the river.

Turn right (south) and choose a safe crossing point to the left bank before reaching the road bridge. Align with the navigation markers and channel left of the bridge centre, and stay vigilant for boat traffic. Avoid passing through any other arches of the bridge.

After crossing under the bridge, move to the right side of the river and re-enter the canal further downstream (2 km). Paddle upstream (north) to return to your starting point. A manageable and enjoyable loop!
