Kerry\, Ranóg Townsend is dedicated to making traditional Irish dance accessible\, enjoyable and inclusive for everyone. Whether you’re completely new to dance or have previous experience\, this workshop offers a fun and welcoming opportunity to explore rhythm\, movement and the rich traditions of Irish percussive dance.\nRanóg holds a BA in Irish Music and Dance and an MA in Ethnochoreology from the Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick\, where she currently lectures in percussive dance. Throughout her career\, she has performed with some of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional musicians and artists\, including Sharon Shannon\, Aoife Scott and Nic Gareiss.\nIn 2023\, Ranóg founded Fite Fuaite Dance\, a community-focused initiative that brings the joy of movement and traditional arts to people of all ages and abilities. DESCRIPTION:‘The Architecture of What Lingers’ is a multidisciplinary exhibition by Christopher Clery that explores the lasting emotional and psychological effects of gender-based violence\, trauma\, desire\, and survival. \n\nAt the heart of the exhibition is a striking wearable sculpture inspired by the intricate ivory carvings of seventeenth-century artist Joachim Henne\, which Clery encountered at Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen. Created from screen-printed EVA foam\, the piece features intertwined figures and symbols of power and control\, resulting in an artwork that is both visually compelling and thought-provoking. \nAlongside the sculpture\, a series of silkscreen prints examines how experiences of violence can leave lasting traces on memory\, identity\, and the body. Through sculpture and printmaking\, Clery invites viewers to consider how personal and collective experiences continue to shape our understanding of resilience\, survival\, and selfhood. \nPowerful and reflective\, The Architecture of What Lingers creates space for dialogue\, awareness\, and a deeper understanding of the enduring impact of trauma. \nContent Warning: This exhibition contains themes of gender-based violence\, trauma\, and abuse which some visitors may find distressing.

These are the four elements of the world that are essential for all life. This exhibition by Andy McCarthy will concentrate on two of these elements\, earth and water. Andy will examine earth and the role it plays from the perspective of trees. She will also examine water and its importance to all life on planet Earth. \nTrees are essential for our wellbeing. They absorb harmful substances such as pollutant gases\, ammonia\, sulphur dioxide\, and nitrogen oxides by trapping them in barks and leaves. Trees also have the ability to calm people by reducing blood pressure and regulating feelings of anxiety. As well as providing shelter for a wide range of animals such as birds\, insects\, and small mammals\, they also regulate temperature\, reduce noise and air pollution\, and help prevent soil erosion. \nWater is arguably the most essential element of all life and no living thing can survive without it. Water is responsible for energy and food production\, as well as a healthy ecosystem. For people it is needed for so many daily functions: cooking\, washing\, drinking\, and bathing. Water improves brain function\, aids better digestion\, helps long term memory and also boosts physical function. \nThis exhibition will be depicting these elements through Andy’s artistic vision\, a vision that has been inspired by the forces of nature that make this planet so special. \nThrough a series of works inspired by the rhythms and forces of the natural world\, Earth & Water invites viewers to reflect on the delicate balance of these elements and their enduring importance in our lives. \nAge: 18+

DESCRIPTION:“Plastic Petals” – Bealtaine Workshop\, Tuesday May 12th\, 2pm – 4pm\, Free \nAs part of the Bealtaine Festival\, this hands on workshop invites participants to transform everyday plastic waste into beautiful\, imaginative blooms. \nPlastic Petals explores themes of creativity\, sustainability and renewal\, encouraging participants to rethink single use materials through an eco-arts approach. Using plastic containers and bottles\, you’ll create colourful\, sculptural flowers while engaging in discussion around Bealtaine\, environmental awareness and the role of creativity in supporting a greener future. \nThis relaxed and social workshop is suitable for all skill levels and offers a rewarding way to connect with both creativity and sustainability. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring along clean plastic bottles or containers (such as 2-litre milk bottles\, any colour) if they have them – additional materials will also be provided.

DESCRIPTION:Alzheimer’s Tea Day\, Thursday May 7th\, 1pm – 3pm\, Donations Welcome \nNenagh Arts Centre\, in collaboration with the Nenagh Tourist Office\, is delighted to host this year’s Alzheimer’s Tea Day in support of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. \nMembers of the public are warmly invited to drop in for a cup of tea\, a chat\, and an opportunity to support a cause that touches so many families and communities. \nAlongside the afternoon’s refreshments\, a raffle featuring prizes generously donated by local businesses will take place\, with all proceeds going directly to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. \nFollowing the success of last year’s event – which raised €500 thanks to the kindness and support of the Nenagh community – we look forward to coming together once again for a meaningful and enjoyable afternoon.
