Genealogy Talk/Workshop: Heritage At Risk – The Stories of Your Ancestors
3 of 3 Genealogy Talks/Workshops led by Tipperary historian Dr. Noreen Higgins McHugh as part of Heritage Week
In ‘Heritage At Risk – The Stories of Your Ancestors’ on 15/8 as part of Heritage Week, Noreen plans to “help participants explore the storytelling aspect of genealogy, which is the first and most important step in tracing your family tree”. Participants will be encouraged to share stories of their ancestors with the group, emphasising that the purpose of genealogy is to trace the family relations and to explore the world of these ancestors e.g. homes, social lives, language (common words no longer used), common practices in the home or farm or workplace. Saturday 15/8, 10.30am – 1pm. €15
Thomas MacDonagh Museum presents three unique Genealogy Sessions facilitated by Tipperary historian Noreen Higgins- McHugh. By attending these genealogy sessions, participants will preserve the cultural heritage of their families through discovering previous generations in their family tree.
This Genealogy Session incorporates both lecture and workshop components, each part lasting about 45 minutes to an hour. Participants will bring a laptop to access various genealogy online sources.
