Killaloe-Ballina Local History Society will host a talk by Michael Ryan titled Fr. Johns Medicine on Wednesday 17th September at 7:30pm in the Lakeside Hotel, Ballina-Killaloe.

During this talk Michael will tell the fascinating story of the Ballina Father O’Brien Dynasty in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Michael has researched the life of Fr. John O’Brien in Lowell, along with his brother, his nephew and his cousin, all of whom joined him in his parish. Family legend has it that funds derived from Father John’s Medicine sent back home were used to purchase three estates, including Edna O’Brien’s ancestral home.
